In my experience, using any veggie or fruit to get Gold Plorts works if you throw it at them. Just be quick!

Just forget about feeding them. Go for other slimes. Gold Slimes ain't worth the hassle.

Throw any food at a Gold Slime to make it drop Gold Plorts, but don't get too close! They disappear fast!
