Honestly, anything small and plentiful works as damage counters in the Pokemon TCG. I've seen people use coins, beads, even small pieces of paper or LEGO bricks. As long as it's clear what they represent and both players agree, go for it! Just remember they need to be small enough not to crowd the playing area.

Dice. Simple, effective, and you probably have a bunch lying around anyway. Plus, they double as a way to keep track of larger amounts of damage without needing a mountain of counters.

Honestly, just stick with the official damage counters if you can. They're designed for the game, so no confusion and they look the part. You can usually pick them up from any set or ask around; plenty of players have spares.

Hot take: you don't need fancy counters. Torn bits of paper do the job. It's all about the game, not the gear.

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
