What was the first ever Pokemon card?
AlightingTang路7 months agoThe first ever Pokemon card is generally considered to be the Pikachu Illustrator card. This ultra-rare card was given to winners of a comic contest in Japan in 1997. It's super rare because only a handful were made. Like finding a shiny Pokemon, but way harder!

First ever? Pikachu Illustrator, hands down. Only a few exist in the world.
Actually, it's not about a specific 'first card' but more about the first set, which was the Base Set released in 1996 in Japan. This set included classics like Charizard, Blastoise, and yes, Pikachu, but not the Illustrator one. That came later and is rare because of the contest, not because it was the first.
