The very first Pokémon cards were part of the Pokémon TCG Base Set, released in 1996 in Japan and 1999 in the US. They introduced us to classics like Charizard, Pikachu, and Blastoise. This set laid the groundwork for the game, featuring Basic Pokémon, Evolution cards, Energy cards, and Trainer cards. It was a simpler time, but those cards are now iconic!

Actually, it's all about that Base Set, baby! The ones that got us trading and battling in the schoolyard. Charizard, where you at?

The first ever were from the Base Set, but don't forget about the Japanese-exclusive sets like Pokémon Jungle and Fossil that came out right after. Those had some gems!

If you're a Pokemon TCG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of Pokemon cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you’re wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
