Warhammer 2 added new races like the High Elves, Dark Elves, Skaven, and Lizardmen. Warhammer 1 focused on the core races like Empire and Dwarfs.

Total War: Warhammer 2 lets you play the Mortal Empires campaign if you own both games - basically combining both maps into one huge battlefield!

Warhammer 2's got more polish and improvements in mechanics, making it a smoother gameplay experience. Also, Lizardmen riding dinosaurs... 'nuff said.

Total War: Warhammer 2 has a bigger map, more factions, and introduces the Vortex campaign, while the first game focuses more on the Old World.

Honestly, if you have to choose, start with Warhammer 2. It's got everything Warhammer 1 has and then some.
