You can move maps in State of Decay 2 anytime after building your first base by talking to the Command Center operator. Just make sure you have enough influence to cover the moving cost!
From my experience, as soon as you've built up your base and gathered enough resources, head over to the Command Center and choose the move option. I always found it was a good change of pace to explore new areas!
