1978 was the cut-off. No more lead paint after that point. Cleaner, safer toys for everyone!

Honestly, I think the whole lead paint issue was blown out of proportion. Sure, they stopped using it in '78, but those early models are classics. As long as you're not chewing on them, you should be fine.

Hot Wheels said goodbye to lead paint back in 1978. They switched it up to comply with new safety standards. Before that, it was the wild west of toy car finishes. Now, they're not just cooler but safer too!

If love Hot Wheels, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

Several of those prizes are trending Hot Wheels, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
