DNA replication happens before meiosis, during a phase called interphase. It prepares the cell for division by duplicating its genetic material. So, technically, it's all set before meiosis kicks off!

Before meiosis begins, DNA replication occurs in interphase. Trust me, I've watched it happen in my biology lab!
