Fullmetal Alchemist starts to diverge from the manga around episode 14. By episode 30-ish, it's off on its own path completely!

You'll notice the first major differences around episode 13-14, but by episode 30, the story is on a totally different track.

Fullmetal Alchemist doesn鈥檛 follow the manga after about episode 14. Brotherhood does a better job of sticking to the story.
