Splatoon 2 updates have generally been released every few months, but the last major update was in the summer of 2019. So, new updates aren't expected anymore for Splatoon 2 as Nintendo's focus is on Splatoon 3!

From my experience, the updates stopped coming after 2019, as Nintendo shifted to the next game in the series.
