Hot Wheels started manufacturing in Malaysia back in the early 1980s. It was part of their strategy to expand production outside the US to meet global demand. So, if you pick up a Hot Wheel and see 'Made in Malaysia' on it, chances are it's from the 80s onwards!

Malaysian Hot Wheels? They鈥檝e been around since the 80s, no doubt. Great quality and some of the coolest designs come from there.

Actually, Hot Wheels being made in Malaysia has been a thing since the late 70s. My dad has a collection, and some of the boxes have dates that go way back. Quality stuff, really shows how Hot Wheels has been global for ages.

I think the whole Malaysian production thing is overrated. Hot Wheels are Hot Wheels, doesn't matter where they're made. Still cool.

Been collecting Hot Wheels for years, and the Malaysian ones have some unique designs. Started in the 80s, and they're definitely worth hunting for if you鈥檙e a collector.
