Actually, discarding is just losing a card. Always bad.

Discarding a card in MTG means you're putting it from your hand into your graveyard unless a card or ability tells you otherwise. This could be part of a cost, an effect of a spell or ability, or due to having more than seven cards in your hand at the end of your turn. It's not always bad, though! Some strategies and decks use the graveyard as a resource, so discarding could actually work in your favor.

From personal experience, discarding can be a double-edged sword in Magic The Gathering. I've lost count of the times discarding has triggered some of my best comebacks, especially with decks designed to leverage the graveyard. Plus, it's a great way to get rid of cards that aren't useful in your current situation.

If you're an MTG player, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

One of those prizes is a pack of MTG cards, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!

Download Playbite for free, available on the App Store and Play Store!
