Metals are mostly chillin' on the left side of the periodic table. You'll find them in groups 1 to 12 and extending down the table! Elements like the alkali metals, alkaline earth metals, transition metals, and even lanthanides and actinides are part of this crowd.
Most metals hog the left side of the periodic table. Easy-peasy.
I've been teaching chemistry for years, and I can tell you metals hang out from groups 1 to 12. Once you've learned that, the periodic table becomes your best friend in science!
