Just build a bell in your settlements and ring it. All your companions chilling in that settlement will come running. Works every time, like calling your pets for dinner!
They're probably ignoring you cause you made them carry too much junk. Jokes aside, sometimes companions go back to where you first found them. Check there!
Honestly, just use mods. There's a 'Companion Locator' mod that saves so much time. Why bother searching the old-fashioned way?
