You can hire bots from various NPCs—just interact with them and select the hire option. They're useful for backup in tight spots!
I'm pretty sure you can hire NPC bots at almost every named location on the map. Got my first hired henchman at Pleasant Park!
You can usually find bots to hire scattered around the map at specific NPC locations. Look for speech bubbles on the minimap!
