The symbols, like hearts or stars, are found in the chat and can be used as decorations in your pet's name. Just click on the text box and look for the emoji picker!

Symbols can be added to text boxes in Adopt Me through special keyboards or online symbol lists. I usually grab mine from an emoji website, then copy-paste them in-game.
