You can get ship parts by visiting space stations and trading posts scattered across the galaxy. A lot of these places will have vendors selling exactly what you need.
Honestly, the best way is to loot from defeated enemy ships. Take 'em down and strip 'em for parts. Space pirates, ahoy!
