Nope, Spyro doesn't pick up the climbing skill in Summer Forest. You'll need to reach Autumn Plains to learn it.

Spyro learns to climb at the beginning of the Autumn Plains in 'Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage'. You won't find this ability in Summer Forest, but no worries—just head to the second homeworld, and buy the skill from our bear buddy, Moneybags, for 500 gems.
