You can find nickel ore in the Lost River biome, especially in the deeper areas like the Tree Cove and the Lost River Junction.

Lost River, specifically in the grand reef maze area. Just watch out for the ghost leviathans!

Honestly, stick to the Lost River. It's your best bet and it's pretty abundant there.

Check the Inactive Lava Zone too. You might bump into some nickel ore there, usually near the lava lakes.

I've had luck finding nickel ore in the Lost River and the Inactive Lava Zone. Make sure to bring a Prawn Suit!
