Try to find a planet that's not too hostile, with moderate temperatures and gravity. It's no fun setting up shop when you're constantly getting blasted by radiation.

Honestly, anywhere you can find decent resources and a relatively safe environment. You'll be hopping around planets a lot anyway!

I'd say start with a planet that has a good mix of resources, like Jemison. It's in the Alpha Centauri system, and you'll find plenty of materials to get your outpost up and running.

From my own experience, I'd suggest starting on a planet in the settled systems. They're generally safer and have better resources to kickstart your outpost.
