Try the targeted loot system. Look for the specific exotic you're hunting down, then complete the activities where that type of loot is highlighted.
You gotta hit up the Dark Zone! All the cool kids are doing it, plus it's got sweet loot and some intense PvP action.
You can also grind through the raids. They're tough, but the exotic drops are worth the effort if you've got a solid team!
