Where to Find a Gauss Rifle in Fallout 4
If you're feeling lucky and got the guts, you can try your hand at taking down a high-level Gunner. These roughnecks occasionally carry Gauss Rifles, especially around Quincy Ruins. Just make sure you're geared up for a tough fight. It's a bit like fishing with dynamite, but hey, sometimes you gotta make your own luck.

You can snag yourself a Gauss Rifle in a couple of ways in Fallout 4. The easiest is to make a bee-line for the Skylanes Flight 1981 crash site. You'll find one waiting for you there as if it missed its flight. Another surefire way is to stock up on Caps and visit Ronnie Shaw at the Castle after completing the Old Guns quest. She sells a unique Gauss Rifle named 'The Last Minute' which has bonus damage to limbs. Don't forget to bring your wallet, because quality firepower in the wasteland doesn't come cheap!
IMO, looting it from Gunners is the most fun. Adds a bit of thrill to the hunt, y'know?
