Actually, you don't need to go as far as the Forbidden Forest for Dogweed and Deathcap! Check around the Herbology greenhouses and the outskirts of Hogsmeade. The game designers scattered these ingredients in less perilous areas so that even the less adventurous witches and wizards could gather them without facing a centaur or any of those nasty spiders.

Forget the Forbidden Forest, it's overrated for foraging. I found plenty of Dogweed and Deathcap just by roaming around Hogsmeade and near the Black Lake. Keep an eye on the ground, not every treasure is hidden in the dark woods.
