Gauss Rifles are overrated. Get a good shotgun and call it a day. Way easier to find ammo for it too.
Honestly, just join a high-level friend's game. I found my first Gauss Rifle in a drop while tagging along with a buddy. High-level areas are your best bet if you're looking for action and sweet loot.
