Crafting is your friend. If you're not finding one in the wild, you can always craft a Light Machine Gun if you've got the plans for it. Check your local trading posts or ask around in the community - someone might be willing to part with those plans for the right price.
Another hot tip: events! Pay attention to the in-game events that pop up, especially those involving lots of combat. I've snagged a Light Machine Gun or two as rewards from these. It's a bit of a grind but totally worth the effort if you're looking for that sweet, sweet firepower.
