Mythril in Terraria is kinda like playing hide and seek with a shiny green rock. To find this elusive mineral, you'll need to smash some Demon Altars/Crimson Altars with a Pwnhammer in a Hardmode world. Once you've caused enough chaos (usually after smashing 3 altars), Mythril will start spawning in your world. You'll wanna search in the Cavern layers; that's where it loves to hang out. Don't forget, you'll need an Iron or Lead Anvil to craft a Mythril Anvil, which is key for crafting items with Mythril ore!

Just smash a bunch of Demon Altars and, bam, you've got Mythril. It's really not that deep.

Finding Mythril's a breeze if you're not scared to get your hands dirty breaking those altars. Pro tip: keep an eye out for its distinct green glow when you're spelunking in the caverns. Found my first batch near a bunch of lava, almost missed it!
