Soft wax often drops from Mondo Chick and Stick Bug. Sometimes you can get it from completing certain quests as well.
Honestly, just buy a bunch of Planters and spam them all over the place. You'll be swimming in soft wax in no time!
Pro tip: Using harvesters on fields with Planters can yield more soft wax. Learned the hard way, trust me!
