Shoot at the sides or rear if you can outflank a KV-1. Their armor is strongest in the front, so hitting them from the sides or rear can penetrate more easily.

Aim for the turret ring or the gun mantlet! The turret ring is a weak spot and can disable the turret rotation, while the gun mantlet isn't as thick as the rest of the tank.
Just aim for the tracks if you can't pen the armor. Immobilizing a KV-1 makes it a sitting duck for your team to finish off.
Always go for the lower hull plate! It's not as thickly armored and a well-placed shot there can disable the engine or transmission.
