Allocate spec points to survivalist talents if you like using status effects and traps. It's a blast (literally)!
From my experience, prioritize upgrading your armor kits and grenades. You can thank me when you're not constantly respawning.
Hot take: Just pump all your spec points into assault rifles. Everything else is secondary if you can't mow down baddies fast enough.
