Just check the Desert Shop during the Desert Update and snag some Mud Balls.
You need to be in the Desert area during the Desert Update events. Purchase Mud Balls from the shop to tame those creepy crawlies!
Personal experience here! I tamed my Blue Scarab by heading to the Desert Shop when the update was active and tossing a Mud Ball. It's a bit of luck, but worth it!
