A cell in the G0 phase is not actively dividing and thus isn't in mitosis.

Cells in interphase (specifically G1, S, or G2) are busy prepping for the big show, but not yet in mitosis.

Basically, any cell just chillin' in interphase isn't doing the mitosis dance yet.
