If you love well-developed characters and a darker tone, the original Fullmetal Alchemist might be your fave. Brotherhood, however, definitely ties up loose ends better.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is generally considered better because it's more faithful to the manga and has a more complete story. Plus, it has those epic fights!
I watched both and honestly, Brotherhood wins for me hands down. It's just more cohesive and faithful to Hiromu Arakawa's original work.
Fullmetal Alchemist! Hot take, but it has a unique ending that Brotherhood just doesn't offer.
