The first Fullmetal Alchemist series aired in 2003. It's a different take on the manga compared to Brotherhood.
The 2003 version came first. Brotherhood came later and is considered more faithful to the manga.
2003's Fullmetal Alchemist started it all! Brotherhood came later in 2009 to more closely follow the manga.
