Tanjiro Kamado, the main character, doesn't become a Hashira during the series. He does, however, show the potential to be one due to his incredible growth as a Demon Slayer.
When it comes to becoming a Hashira, it's all about slaying a bunch of demons or taking down one of the Twelve Kizuki. Not an easy feat!
Short answer: Tanjiro doesn't become a Hashira in the series. However, the existing Hashira are total badasses and worth admiring!
