Are you sure you've hit the 'Play' button? Sometimes we get so excited with our awesome word that we forget the basics.
Maybe your opponent hasn't yet accepted your game request. Points won't show up until both players are engaged in the match.
Check if you're online, sometimes the game's server connection can be a bit iffy. Rebooting the app might help too.
