Because they're simply too cool to be called anything else. Hot Wheels stands for speed, power, and that awesome feeling you get when you nail a loop-the-loop without crashing.

Hot Wheels got their name because they're meant to be the hottest (coolest) cars on wheels! Elliot Handler, the creator, wanted these toys to stand out with their flashy designs and speed-centric features. They were literally 'hot' off the press with cool customizations and a need for speed that left other toy cars in the dust.

It's all in the branding, baby. 'Hot Wheels' screams speed, excitement, and all things fast and furious. Plain 'Cool Cars' just wouldn't cut it.

Actually, it's not just about speed or looks. The name symbolizes innovation and excitement in the toy car industry. Hot Wheels were designed to be faster and more performant on tracks than any other cars of their time, making the 'hot' in Hot Wheels a nod to their superior performance.
