Mario Kart Hot Wheels are rare because they combine two massive fan bases: Mario Kart lovers and Hot Wheels collectors. This mashup makes them highly sought after. Plus, they're often released in limited quantities, which just cranks up the rarity meter.

They're rare because Nintendo and Hot Wheels probably didn't make a ton of them, thinking they'd be just a niche thing. But boom, they were wrong. Combine Mario Kart's iconic status with the collectible nature of Hot Wheels, and you've got yourself a hot ticket item that disappears faster than coins on Rainbow Road.

Honestly? They're just toys. The rarity is all about hype and production numbers. But, gotta admit, they do look cool on the shelf.

If love Hot Wheels, you need to download the Playbite app!

Playbite is like an arcade in your phone: you get to play all kinds of fun and simple games, compete with friends and others, and win cool prizes from all your favorite brands!

Several of those prizes are trending Hot Wheels, which you can win and get sent to you essentially for free!

In case you鈥檙e wondering, this is how it works:

Playbite makes money from (not super annoying) ads and (totally optional) in-app purchases. The app then uses that money to reward players like you with prizes!
