Check PlayStation's or Xbox's server status page. If they're doing maintenance, it could be why you can't connect.

Have you tried turning it off and on again? Seriously, console reboots can fix a ton of connection issues.

Make sure your internet connection is stable! Sometimes, resetting your router can do wonders. Also, check if the servers are down!
