Why Can't I Do Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 1

Make sure you're inputting the correct button combination at the right distance from your opponent. Timing is everything!
Check if you're in Practice Mode. Fatalities aren't always enabled in that mode.
Maybe it's your controller? I had a faulty D-pad once and couldn't pull off any moves.
Hot take: Just spam buttons until something cool happens. It's Mortal Kombat; you never know!
