Probly just to keep things from getting crazy with trades and scammers.
The game doesn't let you drop fruits probably because it wants to avoid players from exploiting the system and scamming others. Safety first!
I've tried this myself; you can't drop fruits because Blox Fruits has disabled this feature entirely to prevent players from manipulating the in-game economy or scamming each other.
