It could be a bug. Sometimes, updates cause sound issues; try updating the game or wait for the developers to patch it.
If you're using Bluetooth headphones or speakers, make sure they're properly connected. I had this issue and disconnecting and reconnecting worked for me!
Try switching to another island and back. I've found that helps refresh the audio sometimes.
Check if 'Mute' is turned on by accident in the game settings. If the problem persists, try reinstalling the app.
