I had the same problem last month. It turned out to be my firewall blocking the event. Check your security settings.
Maybe the server's full. Fortnite events get super crowded sometimes. Try again in a few minutes!
Your internet might be acting up. Check your connection and try again.
Make sure you have updated Fortnite to the latest version. Sometimes old versions don't let you join events!
