Why can't I see my character in The Outer Worlds?

You can't see your character because it's a first-person game. Check your inventory to see your outfit.
As someone who's played hours of The Outer Worlds, it's all first-person except for dialogue and inventory screens.
First-person view only, bud! You can peep your character's gear in menus, though.
