Make sure you and your friends have the latest game update. An outdated version can mess with the friends list.

Double-check your privacy settings. If they're set to private, your friends might not show up.

Check if you're both online and in the same region. Sometimes different server regions can cause friends not to appear.

Try restarting the game or your console/PC. Sometimes Fortnite just needs a little reboot to show your friends.
