Atsushi Ōkubo, the creator of Fire Force, wrapped up the manga, leading to the anime reaching its natural conclusion. All good things must come to an end!

Fire Force ended to stay true to its manga source material, which concluded with a satisfying wrap-up. Quality over quantity, folks!

Having followed both anime and manga, I think they wanted to give a solid, cohesive ending based on the complete story from Ōkubo.
