Actually, it was more of a strategic move by Ferrari to diversify their branding with different companies. Hot Wheels didn't necessarily do anything wrong.

Hot Wheels lost the Ferrari license because other toy companies offered more attractive terms. Simple as that.

So, Hot Wheels and Ferrari parted ways back in 2014. The reason? It's all about licensing agreements. Ferrari decided to switch things up and went with a different toy car company for their licensing. Basically, Ferrari and Mattel (Hot Wheel's parent company) couldn't agree on the new terms. Ferrari's now with Maisto, leaving Hot Wheels collectors to hunt down the older Ferrari models.

Hot Wheels and Ferrari splitting up was a tragedy for diecast fans everywhere. I remember scrambling to get my hands on the last few Ferraris they made. Those were the days!
