Isayama wrote Attack on Titan because he was inspired by a childhood encounter with a stranger and wanted to explore themes of fear and survival. Plus, who wouldn't want to create a world with giant man-eating creatures?

He was inspired by the manga Muv-Luv Alternative and wanted to challenge himself with a story about humanity's desperation and struggle against all odds. He nailed it!

Isayama was inspired by his hometown's isolation and his own fears. The walls in the series reflect his feelings of being trapped. He wanted to create something as epic as his fears!
