Honestly, people just had really high expectations after Super Mario 64, and Sunshine felt like a Pianta in the shadow of its greatness.

Super Mario Sunshine's tropical theme was a bit too niche and the game had some frustratingly repetitive missions. But hey, I loved cleaning up all that goop!

Some folks didn't vibe with Super Mario Sunshine because the camera controls were more unpredictable than a Chain Chomp on a sugar rush. Plus, the whole water-pump mechanic wasn't everyone's cup of Mushroom Kingdom tea.

Hot take: Sunshine is underrated. It's like pineapple on pizza - not everyone gets it, but those who do are die-hard fans. The Fludd is life.
