Try unplugging and plugging your joystick back in. Worked for me when I had the same issue!

Sounds like your joystick isn’t mapped correctly. Go into the control settings and rebind your buttons. Easy fix!

Maybe reset your control settings to default and then reconfigure your joystick. Start fresh and you should be good to go.
