I think it's just the packaging materials they use. A quick wash and some fresh air usually does the trick.

From what I’ve experienced, the smell comes from the dyes and treatments used to keep the clothes looking fresh. Give them a good wash and you’re golden!

The smell is usually from the chemicals used in manufacturing and shipping the clothes. Just wash them before wearing!
